Description

Until 1995, when the Princess Margaret Hospital relocated to University Avenue, cancer services were separated. During the 1930s and 40s surgery took place in the downtown teaching hospitals under the leadership of William E. Gallie (left, with scalpel), while radium treatment was performed at the Ontario Institute of Radiotherapy under the leadership of Gordon E. Richards (right, with radium tube).
